Sanjel Adds Horsepower and Biofuel Units to North American Fracturing Fleet
CALGARY, May 7, 2014 /CNW/ - Sanjel Corporation (Sanjel) is pleased to announce the addition of horsepower to its North American operations, bringing the Company's current hydraulic fracturing horsepower (HHP) to 460,000. Sanjel will continue to add HHP this year to its fracturing fleet which will bring the Company's total North American HHP to 535,000 by the end of 2014.
"The unconventional liquids market continues to expand and large-scale multi-stage fracturing operations on multi-pad wells are becoming more common," explains Warren Zemlak, Chief Operating Officer. "These new pumps will service horizontal well projects in the Duvernay, Montney and Cardium resource plays in Canada and the Bakken, Eagle Ford and Permian resource plays in the USA."
In addition, Sanjel is implementing the Caterpillar Dynamic Gas Blending (DGB) technology on its existing CAT 3512C fleet and its new additions as a way to further optimize its operations.
The CAT DGB is a dual fuel technology that uses special CAT hardware to allow CAT 3512C engines to burn natural gas blended with diesel. With low natural gas prices, the process significantly lowers fuel costs by replacing up to 70 percent of diesel fuel with natural gas.
"As an energy service leader, we are continuously improving the efficiency of our operations and the addition of the CAT DGB technology enables Sanjel to significantly reduce the cost of our operations while reducing our environmental footprint," Zemlak explains.
"This will save us significant fuel costs while maintaining diesel engine performance levels," Zemlak says, adding that the units will run on compressed natural gas, which will be shipped to each work site for use. "The technology also allows us to burn cleaner fuel, by eliminating the nitrous oxide and particulates normally emitted when diesel fuel is burned."
