VANCOUVER, Dec. 6, 2014 /CNW/ - Earlier today two 'Santa' flights departed from Vancouver International Airport with very special guests on board. For the fourth consecutive year, Jazz Aviation and Joanne Griffiths (co-founder of Canuck Place and more recently Community First Foundation) have teamed up to provide a fun-filled holiday experience for local children.
Children invited, including special guests from Canuck Place and Queen Alexandra Elementary School, boarded a Dash 8 aircraft for a 45-minute flight over the Vancouver area. The two flights operated earlier today with Santa and his Elf on board to entertain the children with songs while they enjoyed their flight and in-flight snacks.
"Once again, our Jazz employee team in Vancouver was very pleased to volunteer their time to be a part of this special day," said Colin Copp, Chief Administrative Officer at Jazz. "Working on the Santa flights project is a very rewarding experience and we are delighted to provide these flights for local children – many of whom have never been on an airplane before."
"We are thrilled that every year we get the opportunity to take the children and families from Canuck Place, and this year Queen Alexandra Elementary School, on this very special flight to Search for Santa. My heartfelt gratitude goes out to everyone involved, especially Jazz, for making this happen again this year. It is the event of a lifetime for many of the kids who will forever remember their experience! Thank you to all who contributed to this wonderful day," said Joanne Griffiths.
Donations graciously provided by local organizations – Vancouver International Airport, Signature Flight Support, Air Canada, Nav Canada, Gate Gourmet, Servisair and AeroMAG – all of which significantly contributed to the success of the day's festivities.
Over the years Jazz has operated Santa flights in a number of Canadian cities and look forward to continuing the tradition in 2015.
