Sarnia CPA receives Life Membership Award
Sandra Whyte, FCPA, FCGA, recognized for her outstanding professional and community contributions
TORONTO, Oct. 2, 2014 /CNW/ - The Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario is proud to announce that Sarnia's Sandra (Sandy) Whyte, FCPA, FCGA, has been named one of just three Life Membership Award recipients in 2014.
Life Members recipients are recognized for their extraordinary service to the accounting profession through activities at the provincial level. These accomplished chartered professional accountants are among today's leading accounting and finance professionals, proudly representing their profession and designation.
Noted for her tremendous efforts, professionalism and lifelong dedication to volunteerism, Sandy dedicates her time to sharing her knowledge and skills through education, advocacy or fundraising, working hard to make a difference. She works wholeheartedly to build awareness of the accounting profession while giving back to her community for the greater good. She has supported such non-profit organizations as United Way, Huron House for Boys, Breast Cancer Society of Canada and Community Legal Assistance.
Sandy was instrumental in building a strong partnership between Lambton College and the accounting profession over decades, elevating awareness of the opportunities that a career as a designated accountant provides. As an accounting instructor for 15 years, Sandy strived to improve the quality of education, helping accounting students identify pathways to successful careers.
Her nine-year involvement in CGA Ontario's Sarnia Lambton chapter committee was extensive: she served as chair, vice-chair, political liaison, student liaison, and education representative, among other key roles. She dedicated 11 years to marking exams until stepping aside to serve on CGA Ontario' Board of Directors. Since joining the board, Sandy has chaired the student appeals committee and the discipline committee.
