Sarnia-Lambton Chapter of Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Receives
$35,000 from The Co-operators
SARNIA, ON, Sept. 24 /CNW/ - Local Co-operators agent Fabien Jagoo today announced a commitment of $35,000 over five years to the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Sarnia-Lambton chapter. Jagoo, whose three young children were diagnosed with cystic fibrosis last year, will present the pledge later today at his second annual Cystic Fibrosis Charity BBQ in Bright's Grove.
The $35,000 commitment from The Co-operators includes $11,000 from Jagoo, who is a local insurance agent for the company. In addition to these donations, Jagoo hopes that today's barbeque will raise significantly more than the $9,000 raised at the inaugural event last year. Jagoo has also been active in raising more than $5,000 this year through the Great Strides Walk, CF Charity Golf Tournament and other local initiatives.
"My cause for life is cystic fibrosis," said Jagoo. "In life we are all faced with challenges and obstacles. My goal is to rise to the challenge presented to me and my family, and help raise funds that will help us find a cure that will not only help my own children, but others just like them in our town and around the world."
Cystic fibrosis is the most common fatal genetic disease affecting Canadian children and young adults. There is currently no cure for the disease, which primarily affects the lungs and digestive system, causing severe respiratory problems and lung disease. It is estimated that 1 in every 3,600 children born in Canada has cystic fibrosis; this includes all three of Jagoo's children: Olivia (eleven), Lennex (eight) and Wesley (six).
Today's Cystic Fibrosis Charity BBQ will be held at Remedy's Rx pharmacy in Bright's Grove from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm. All are welcome, and all proceeds will be donated to the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation - above and beyond the $35,000 pledged by The Co-operators.
