/CNW/ - Sarnia RCMP have charged a 33 year old male resident of
Richmond
Hill ,Ontario as a result of an investigation into complaints that he was distributing counterfeit clothing as well as other counterfeit articles including sunglasses, purses and sports ball caps.

HEO has been charged with Fraud under
$5000.00
and with offences under the Copyright Act. He was also found in possession of over 700 illegally copied DVD movies. HEO was released from custody on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear in Sarnia court on the 8th of February 2010.
It is an offence in
Canada
to sell and distribute merchandise bearing unlicensed or unregistered trademarks without the permission of the trademark owner. The selling of these counterfeit items represents a loss of revenue to the legitimate distributors as well as the tax revenue to the government. As well, illegal DVD rings are costing Canada's movie industry millions per year.
Police will continue to be vigilant during the holiday season.
