Saskatchewan ban on use of hand-held devices while driving now in effect

TORONTO , Jan. 4 /CNW/ - Saskatchewan's ban on the use of hand-held communication and entertainment devices came into effect on January 1, 2010 . The new law will make it illegal for drivers to text, type, dial or email using hand-held devices while operating a vehicle.

Many Saskatchewan residents have become accustomed to talking on their mobile devices on the road, but this is now a bad habit they will have to break. There are mobile device options and wireless accessories that offer hands-free modes and speaker commands that would allow drivers to safely use their hand-held devices without distracting them from driving.
