Development organization World Vision launches Just One Child Campaign
SASKATOON, Feb. 4, 2013 /CNW/ - Today, development organization World Vision launches its Just One Child sponsorship campaign throughout Saskatchewan. From February 4 until April 30, Saskatchewan residents are encouraged to come together to sponsor at least 2,000 children from countries such as Zambia, India and Brazil.
"I sponsor five children from Zambia, Malawi and Rwanda," says Christy Zacharias, a mother of two and resident of Martensville. "I've seen for myself the work on the ground, the innovative projects that World Vision has in place to help combat poverty overseas. If people could see what I saw, they would know sponsorship works."
Saskatchewan residents have already proven how big their hearts are by collectively sponsoring more than 20,000 children through World Vision.
A sponsorship of just $39 a month provides access to essentials like education, clean drinking water and medical care for a child by building resources in their community.
"The goal of child sponsorship is to help communities find solutions to their local issues and thereby enable families to provide for their children," says World Vision's, Jason Moffat of Saskatoon. "By sponsoring just one child an individual can help ease the struggles of an entire community."
