SaskTel Announces New Tier III Data Centre in Saskatoon
REGINA, Oct. 5, 2015 /CNW/ - SaskTel today announced it has started construction of a new certified Tier III Data Centre in Saskatoon. SaskTel awarded Graham Construction the contract to build the data centre which has a tentative completion date of Q4 2016. The design has been certified by the Uptime Institute as meeting all Tier III requirements such as concurrently maintainable electrical and mechanical components and multiple independent distribution paths serving dual-powered IT equipment that will be fully compatible within the typology of the site's architecture.

SaskTel also recently opened a new Tier II Data Centre in Regina that will offer a highly available, secure and stable operating environment for businesses IT infrastructure. Although the facility is designed to Tier II standard it has several redundant attributes providing power, cooling, and power generation. With SaskTel Data Centre services, such as Managed Hosting and Colocation, businesses will benefit from a secure Data Centre environment and IT infrastructure management ensuring that their critical data is kept safe and secure.
The addition of the new Tier III Data Centre in Saskatoon will significantly increase SaskTel's data centre capacity. SaskTel currently has a total of 31,088 square feet in 6 different data centre locations with 4 locations in Regina and 2 in Saskatoon. The new facility will consist of 24,000 square feet of building area including an initial 9,650 square foot data hall, expandable up to 30,000 square feet and an additional 4,630 square feet for the second floor generator rooms.
