MONTRÉAL, June 16, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - An invitation is issued to the entire population to come to Parc Jean-Drapeau for Discovery Day, starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 20. Discounts will be offered on many of the activities on this special day, which is a great opportunity to discover this unique site located just a few steps from your home.
Whether it's boating activities, cycling and in-line skating on Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, cultural tours of the Stewart Museum and the Biosphère, Environment Museum, swimming at the Aquatic Complex, discovering public art works, the self-guided tour of Expo 67, or simply for a leisurely walk on the trails, there is something to suit every interest. And as an added bonus, various entertainment and contests will be going on throughout the day at the Jean-Doré Beach.
Jean-Doré Beach
Newly named in honour of former Montréal mayor Jean Doré, the île Notre-Dame Beach is marking its 25th anniversary this year, and for this special day the entry fee for the Beach will be just $2.50. A veritable oasis situated close to the downtown area, the magnificent beach boasts a new feature this year, Aquazilla, a 30-by-35 metre floating inflatable structure composed of obstacles, slides and platforms. This activity has just been added to such existing ones as teletraction wakeboarding, boating, stand-up paddleboard and beach volleyball, all of which will be offered at a discount on Discovery Day. Incidentally, the Beach opens for the season this Thursday, June 18.
Flyboarding, an extreme sport on the île Notre-Dame lake
Making its debut in Montréal, Flyboarding is a new extreme sport that allows you to fly over the water, dive and perform the zaniest, gravity-defying acrobatics! Completely safe and easy to use, Flyboarding is accessible to anyone who is over 10 years old and weighs more than 80 pounds.
Parc Jean-Drapeau is proud to be able to team up with many partners, all summer long: Coca-Cola, Molson, Breyers, Lafleur, and our media partners. For any information on the activities and events presented at Parc Jean-Drapeau, and for details about Discovery Day, please go to www.parcjeandrapeau.com.
