TORONTO, Nov. 29, 2013 /CNW/ - AutoShare is pleased to announce that its network has expanded into the heart of Scarborough with a new shared vehicle located at the Civic Centre, right next to the Scarborough Town Centre. Now a dense residential and commercial hub, this newest location provides direct vehicle access to 2,100 residents in surrounding residential buildings, and thousands more via the RT and subways lines. This move permits Scarborough residents to have access to additional forms of transportation - enabling them to increase their mobility.
"The addition of AutoShare in the centre of Scarborough will build on the transportation system already in place - making it easier to live without owning a car, and giving residents the kind of self-serve access so many have come to expect elsewhere in our city," said Kevin McLaughlin, President of AutoShare.
This new location is added to AutoShare's existing presence in the city of Scarborough, with a location at Victoria Park TTC and is integrated into AutoShare's city-wide network of 300 vehicles at 175 locations, concentrated around Toronto's TTC subway stations and transit stops. Studies show that carsharing leads to an increase use of other modes of transportation including walking, biking and public transit.
