Playful Learning Approach: An opportunity for children to learn while playing
LONDON, ON, Dec. 4, 2018 /CNW/ - Scholar's Choice, a national catalogue and retail chain known for its high-quality toys and educational resources, is at it again. Specializing in early years; birth to 8, servicing parents, schools, and childcare for 80 years. Scholar's Choice has distinguished itself for having a strong connection and interest to education, the company now goes a step further by launching the "Playful Learning Approach" along with its new branding refresh.
Scholar's Choice vision is to give every child a reason to love learning, so they can achieve their hopes and dreams. We believe that education is the critical ingredient that children need to reach their full potential and that parents and educators need to work together to ensure this happens. It is essential that parents realize that the most critical time to make a positive impact on your child's education is from birth to grade three. At Scholar's Choice, we believe children deserve our best. We utilize an innovative and inspiring approach to children's learning; we call this the Playful Learning Approach. This approach embodies five main principles:
- Children should be given opportunities self-direct their own play.
- Children develop Social and Emotional skills through cooperative play.
- Children explore and learn with all five senses.
- Children are given endless opportunities for discovery-based play.
- Children are given multiple opportunities to express themselves.
Our focus on providing innovative, inspiring educational solutions to parents and educators in Canada is what drives us every day knowing that we have helped parents and educators make a difference in the lives of young children, so they can achieve their hopes and dreams.
Scholar's Choice Brand Refresh
To more fully reflect our approach to learning and the Playful Learning Approach, we decided to refresh our brand. This included updating our logo and retail store look and feel to a more simple, modern and colour scheme that reflects our beliefs around how children learn best. It is typical to go into toy stores and find yourself immersed in bright colours and busy environments. This look and feel are out-of-date and opposite to what children should be exposed to stimulate learning. We need to avoid overstimulating children to bright jarring environments, lights and sounds to a more calming natural ambiance that enhances their curiosity to explore and learn. As the largest supplier of educational toys, teaching materials, and early learning environments, we have intimate knowledge of how young children learn and our staff and new retail concept fully capture this knowledge. The newly designed brand refresh by Scholar's Choice will start with the look and feel of the company's new retail locations in Ottawa in Trainyards and Barrhaven and soon move across the country. This unique experience will include a fresh, clean and natural space that will instill a calm and relaxing environment to shop while also providing play areas that will allow children to explore and be creative. A new logo, together with an updated mission and vision, will better define what the company believes. In the coming weeks, Scholar's Choice will launch its newly designed website to provide a better online shopping experience and further enforce the new branding.
