Scorpio Appoints Pierre Lacombe, Eng., to the Board

VANCOUVER, March 2 /CNW/ - Scorpio Mining Corporation (TSX:SPM) is pleased to announce that Mr. Pierre Lacombe has accepted a position on the Board of Scorpio Mining Corporation. Mr. Lacombe's appointment is effective as of March 1, 2010.
Pierre received a B.Eng. degree, Mining Engineering (Mineral Processing Option) from the Ecole Polytechnique, Quebec, Canada in 1984 and is fluent in English, French and Spanish.

Pierre was involved with the Nuestra Senora plant design and start up from 2006 to 2008. Not only will he compliment our diversified Board with his metallurgical expertise and his past experience in test work, pilot program design and supervision, feasibility studies, design of process improvements, equipment selection, construction, commissioning and start-up assistance, he will ensure that the plant expansion and Platte River San Rafael deposit ore blending and processing will have an orderly start-up."
Pierre has been Principal Process Engineer with AMEC since 2000. Prior to joining AMEC, Pierre was Manager of Metallurgy for Cambior from 1996 to 2000, Plant Superintendent/Senior Metallurgist for Aur Resources' Louvicourt Mine (Cu/Zn) from 1991 to 1996, Assistant Plant Superintendent/Production Metallurgist for BP Minerals' Selbaie Mine (Cu/Zn) from 1986 to 1991 and a junior engineer for Cominco from 1984-1986.
Some of his presentations/publications include CMP presentations on design and operation of the Aur Resources Louvicourt Mine paste-fill plant. He co-authored papers on flotation column trials, application of frothwashing and selective collectorless copper flotation at the BP Minerals Selbaie Mine, Quebec, as well as a paper on the design of a flooded tailings pond at the Aur Resources Louvicourt Mine. In 1995, he was awarded the "Metallurgist of the Year, Young Achiever Award" by the Canadian Mineral Processors.
Pierre's job postings with AMEC have included process lead engineer for the pre-feasibility/feasibility study for the Cerro Casale project, of Barrick and Kinross in Chile, which includes a 160,000 tonne per day (TPD) copper/gold flotation and CIL operations; all the phases of engineering and start-up assistance for the sulphide plant of the Andacollo Mine, a 55,000 TPD copper flotation plant for Teck in Chile; and other worldwide sizable projects too numerous to mention.
