Scott Carson retires from Economical's board of directors

WATERLOO, ON, Feb. 3, 2014 /CNW/ - Gerry Hooper, chair of the board of directors of Economical Insurance, announced that Dr. A. Scott Carson is retiring from the board to focus on his academic and administrative responsibilities at Queen's University.

"On behalf of Economical and its board of directors, I want to thank Scott for his 14 years of dedicated service," said Hooper. "We always valued Scott's counsel and his active involvement on a number of board committees at Economical. His presence will be missed but we wish him well in his future pursuits."

Dr. Carson was appointed to the board in March 2000. For most of his tenure, he served on the corporate governance committee, which he chaired for eight years. He has also been a member of the board's audit, risk review and investment committees.

Dr. Carson is a professor of strategy and director of The Monieson Centre, at the Queen's School of Business, Queen's University. Prior to that, he was dean at both the School of Business & Economics at Wilfrid Laurier University and the Sobey School of Business at Saint Mary's University, Halifax, Nova Scotia. As well, he was chair of the Canadian Federation of Business School Deans. Dr. Carson is a frequent author and speaker on business ethics, corporate social responsibility, corporate governance and business strategy.
