Scott Rintoul and Andrew Walker to Anchor Sportsnet 650 Afternoon Drive
VANCOUVER, July 24, 2017 /CNW/ - Buckle up Vancouver, the drive home is about to get a lot more exciting with Scott Rintoul and Andrew Walker anchoring Sportsnet 650's afternoon drive. The show, which launches September 4, will air Monday to Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. PT.
"Scott is well known and very well respected in Vancouver. He has been immersed in the Vancouver sports scene for more than 15 years and we consider ourselves extremely fortunate to welcome him back to the Sportsnet team," said Craig MacEwen, Program Director, Sportsnet 650. "Andrew has been a mainstay at Sportsnet 590 The FAN in Toronto for nearly five years. He is a dynamic personality with a terrific sense of humour. Both Andrew and Scott have a wealth of sports broadcasting experience and will be a great fit for our audience."
Walker comes to Vancouver with 15 years of broadcasting experience under his belt. Born and raised in Beaubier, SK, Walker got his start with CJNB in North Battleford, SK, before moving to Red Deer, AB, in 2004. He joined Sportsnet 960 The FAN in Calgary in 2010, before moving to Toronto in 2013. Throughout his career, Walker has covered the NHL, Stanley Cup Final, Memorial Cup, WHL, IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship, and the CFL.
Rintoul has been a fixture in sports broadcasting for the past 16 years, all of them based in Vancouver, and has covered multiple Grey Cups, Super Bowls, the Stanley Cup Final, and the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. Scott's diverse portfolio includes reporting for Sportsnet, writing at Sports Page, hosting at TSN 1040, writing for various publications, and as the play-by-play voice for the BC Lions from 2014 to 2017.
As previously announced, Sportsnet 650 launches on September 4 and will air year-round top-tier sports content, including Vancouver Canucks and Blue Jays games. Further programming details to be announced shortly.
