Scrabble® Corporate Challenge Aims for a Big Score
Bay Street Spells It Out for Literacy
TORONTO, Feb. 27, 2013 /CNW/ - On March 6th, Bay Street's sharpest minds will compete against one another to raise money for Frontier College, Canada's original literacy organization.
With SCRABBLE® players like TMX Group's CEO Tom Kloet, and CIBC's Senior EVP Richard Nesbitt, along with journalists and Olympic athletes, the evening is bound to be a raucous evening, all for a good cause.
Players vie for the coveted TMX Cup and the opportunity to open the Toronto Stock Exchange and proudly display the TMX Cup at their office. CNW Group Newsmakers will defend their TMX Cup title. Looking to defeat CNW Group are former champions PricewaterhouseCoopers' Alphabet Soup (2008 & 2011) and the Scotiabank Nerdiques (2005 and 2006).
Frontier College President Sherry Campbell is inspired by the continued growth of the event, now in its 9th year. "It's a wonderful reminder of the value that the corporate community places on literacy."
TMX Group's CEO, Tom Kloet agrees. "TMX Group is proud to once again be the title sponsor of Frontier College's SCRABBLE® Corporate Challenge. We are extremely pleased to lend support to the important cause of increasing literacy across Canada."
This year's emcee is author David Chilton, the newest member of CBC's Dragon's Den, and a familiar face to many in the business crowd.
One of the emotional highlights of the evening is the Deloitte Learner Achievement Award, which was won by Tamara Rebeiro, a single mom who, with the help of Frontier College, has achieved her goals and is now working full-time.
The 2013 SCRABBLE® Corporate Challenge, presented by TMX Group will be held on March 6th from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Arcadian Court, 401 Bay Street, 8th floor. To register: www.scrabblenightincanada.ca or call 416-923-3591 ext. 324.
