Sears Canada Advised of a Potential Safety Hazard Relating to Certain Black &
Decker Cordless Electric Lawnmowers
TORONTO, Oct 1 /CNW/ - Sears Canada has been advised by Black & Decker of a potential safety hazard relating to certain cordless electric lawnmowers. It has been discovered that the lawnmower's motor and blade can unexpectedly turn on after the mower's safety key is removed, posing a laceration hazard.
Some of these lawnmowers were sold through Sears Canada retail stores, and through the Sears Canada catalogue between December 1999 and December 2006. The model number is CMM 1000 and can be found on the silver and black label affixed to the rear door of the mower. The corresponding Sears item number is 35020 and can be found on the customer's receipt.
In the interest of consumer safety, Sears Canada urges customers who own an affected lawnmower to cease use immediately and bring their lawnmower to a Black and Decker factory owned service centre. Alternatively customers can contact Black & Decker at 1-800-544-6986 between 8:30 a.m. and 4.30 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or customers can visit their website at www.blackanddecker.com.
Sears Canada will be posting signs in all of its retail stores to advise customers of this safety hazard. Sears Canada is bringing this matter to the public's attention in the interest of consumer safety and apologizes to its customers for any inconvenience.
