Sears Canada Advised of a Potential Safety Hazard Relating to the Pelican
Snow Trek Hitch
TORONTO, April 9 /CNW/ - Sears Canada Inc. has been advised by Pelican International Inc. of a safety hazard involving the hitch used in connection with the Pelican Snow Trek Utility Sled. It has been discovered that a screw in the hitch could become loose and fall off due to vibrations when the sled is being towed. This may lead to the sled and hitch detaching from the towing vehicle, posing a risk of severe injury.
One of the affected Pelican Snow Trek Utility Sleds was sold through the Sears Canada catalogue between August, 2009 and March, 2010. The Sears regular selling price was $199.99. The model number is LDT75PC01 and can be found on the Sticker and UPC inside the front of the sled. The corresponding Sears item number is 06-42300 and can be found on the customer's receipt.
In the interest of consumer safety, Sears Canada urges customers to immediately stop using the hitch to tow the sled. Sears customers should contact Pelican International toll-free at: 1-888-669-6960, Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. for a free replacement kit. Alternatively customers can email the company at [email protected].
Sears Canada is bringing this matter to the public's attention in the interest of consumer safety and apologizes to its customers for any inconvenience.
