Sears Canada Advised of a Potential Safety Hazard Relating to the Step2(R)
Push Around Buggy
TORONTO, May 14 /CNW/ - Sears Canada Inc. has been advised by Step2(R) of a safety hazard involving the Step2(R) Push Around Buggy(TM). It has been discovered that a pin with the yellow knob that attaches the handle to the buggy can loosen, causing the handle to detach from the buggy, posing a risk of injury to young children.
The Step2(R) Push Around Buggy(TM) are ride on toys. The buggy is orange and has a red "Step2" logo on the handle of the buggy.
Some of the affected buggies were sold at Sears Canada retail stores, online at www.sears.ca and through the Sears Canada catalogue between January 10, 2007 and May 15, 2010. The Sears regular selling price was $59.99. The model number is 79230R and can be found on the bottom of the buggy. The corresponding Sears item number is 20144 and can be found on the customer's receipt.
Buggies that have a handle attached by a bolt with a white or black plastic head and nut are not included in this recall.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries relating to the use of this product.
In the interest of consumer safety, Sears Canada urges customers to inspect the buggy. If the buggy has a pin with a yellow plastic knob, customers should immediately stop using the buggy and contact Step2 toll-free at 1-800-347-8372 between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. EST Monday through Friday, for a free repair kit. Alternatively customers can visit the company's website at www.step2.com.
