Sears Canada Issues a Voluntary Recall for Reusable Shopping Bag
TORONTO, Dec. 24 /CNW/ - Sears Canada Inc. (TSX: SCC) is issuing a voluntary safety recall for a reusable shopping bag. The design on the bag is a white background with a large green maple leaf. Words appear across the entire design. The edges of the bag and handles are green. It was sold in three sizes: small, medium and large. Testing has revealed that the level of lead in this specific style of reusable shopping bag does not meet Sears standards.
The bag was sold through Sears Canada retail stores between July 2010 and December 2010. The Sears item numbers are as follows and can be found on the care tag inside the bag.
------------------------------ Item No. Description Price ------------------------------ D64003 Small $0.79 ------------------------------ D64004 Medium $0.99 ------------------------------ D64005 Large $1.29 ------------------------------
Sears Canada is asking customers to discontinue use of the bag and is offering a refund to those who return their bag to their nearest Sears department store.
Sears Canada will be posting signs in all of its retail stores to advise customers of this safety recall. Sears Canada is bringing this matter to the public's attention in the interest of consumer safety and apologizes to its customers for any inconvenience.
