Sears Canada Issues Safety Notice for Power Adaptors Used with the PetSafe(R)
Heated Wellness Sleeper

TORONTO, May 7 /CNW/ - Sears Canada Inc. has been advised by Radio Systems Corporation of Knoxville, TN. of a safety hazard involving the power adaptors used with the PetSafe(R) Heated Wellness Sleeper. It has been discovered that the power adaptor connectors can melt, posing a fire hazard.

The affected adaptors included with the PetSafe(R) Heated Wellness Sleeper were sold through the Sears Canada catalogue between August 2007 and June 2008. The Sears regular selling prices were $79.99 - 119.99. The affected model numbers and corresponding Sears item numbers are as follows:

The recalled power adaptors are identified by the markings "HON-KWANG", "PLUG IN CLASS 2 TRANSFORMER", "MODEL NO: K12-800" and have a spring coil covering the length of the electrical wire. The product revision codes can be identified by codes 0, 1, or 2, located on the master box sticker. The corresponding Sears item number can be found on customers' sales receipts.

Heated Wellnss Sleepers with power adaptors without springs are not affected by this safety notice.

In the interest of consumer safety, Sears Canada urges customers to immediately stop using the power adaptor. Sears customers should not return the PetSafe(R) Heated Wellness Sleeper, but should contact Radio Systems Corporation's Customer Care at 1-800-732-2677 for instructions on how to receive a free replacement power adaptor. Alternatively customers can also mail old power adaptors to the following address with a name, address, phone number, and other contact information, and RSC will ship a new power adaptor: Radio Systems Corporation
