INTERGENERATIONAL CONNECTIONS HELP OTHERS FIND MEANING IN TIMES OF CHANGE
OAKVILLE, ON, June 9, 2020 /CNW/ - Due to COVID-19, eighth graders, high school seniors and university students will be celebrating their graduation differently this year. Graduation is a significant milestone in one's life, and we believe the hard work and dedication of these students deserves to be acknowledged. We all need to come up with creative ways to make this graduation milestone memorable, and remind our grads that even though life sometimes throws you a curve ball, it's important to learn from life's surprises.
To help provide perspective for some recent graduates, Seasons Retirement Communities decided to call on some of our residents to share their life lessons. With a new initiative we are calling "Seasons Seniors to Seniors," our seniors reflect on the past and how their life lessons may provide some guidance and hope for our new graduates. "Who better to turn to for advice than our nations' seniors?" says LeighAnne Voll, COO at Seasons. "Not only do our residents have amazing advice, but we know that helping others and sharing stories are two important ways to prevent loneliness." It's a win-win. The residents feel connected and are able to give back in a meaningful way, and graduating seniors get some amazing advice that may change their outlook on this unfortunate situation.
Through to the end of the month, Seasons will be connecting with schools and sharing uplifting messages via social media to connect with graduating seniors and offer invaluable advice to help them close one chapter of their life and embark on another.
Charles from Royal Oak Village shared: "There will be times in your life that will challenge you, and there will be moments that will bring you tremendous joy. A life, a full life, is not a single moment or a few years. It is everything from start to finish, with the story still being told."
Jean from Milton encourages graduates to follow their dreams. "If you feel something you love calling your name, refuse to worry about whether or not you will be good enough," says Jean. "Just do it."
Seasons is so happy for the opportunity to connect these two generations. Seasons Seniors to Seniors is our way of congratulating the class of 2020!
