Seaway International Bridge Corporation - Winterized Temporary Tolling

CORNWALL, ON, Nov. 10 /CNW Telbec/ - The Seaway International Bridge Corporation has placed a winterized toll booth and canopy at the base of the North Channel Bridge at Brookdale Avenue in Cornwall.

The new booth features a second story to accommodate all of the utilities that would normally be provided from an offsite office. The booth has room for two toll attendants and is configured to allow tolling in both directions on the bridge. On overhead canopy provides shelter from the snow and rain.

SIBC toll staff will continue to control traffic onto the North Channel Bridge, allowing emergency vehicles to avoid delays and lineups during emergencies.

The new booth and canopy were constructed offsite. The structures were lifted into place during today in the early morning hours, in order to minimize traffic disruptions. The structures will be fitted out with equipment and will become operational within the next two weeks.

The booth and canopy are temporary structures, but have to meet to the same engineering code standards as permanent structures. SIBC administration and maintenance activities continue from the Corporation's office on Cornwall Island.
