Second edition of the Fastpitch Winter Classic between Team Russell Martin and Les 4 Chevaliers, in collaboration with Jays Care Foundation Français
MONTREAL, Dec. 1st 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - On Saturday December 19th, Team Russell Martin will be facing off against the legendary softball team Les 4 Chevaliers, to help raise funds for Quebec local baseball. This is the second edition of the charity match, entitled Fastpitch Winter Classic, which will be presented in collaboration with Jays Care Foundation, the charitable arm of the Toronto Blue Jays.
A similar game and fundraiser was held in January 2015. The comical yet incredibly talented Les 4 Chevaliers took the first game, which should only fuel Team Russell Martin in making this rematch a competitive one. With an aim at fundraising $50,000 for Quebec local baseball, Russell Martin feels compelled to making this event a success.
"There's a lot of buzz surrounding baseball right now. It's important to contribute to the development of Quebec baseball and I sincerely feel this initiative will help in supporting a new generation of players, while having fun", mentions Russell Martin.
"As the charitable arm of Canada's only Major League team, Jays Care uses baseball intentionally to create positive social change for children and youth across Canada," says Robert Witchel, Executive Director, Jays Care Foundation. "Russell Martin is a fantastic ambassador for Canadian baseball – we are proud to work with Russell and help hundreds of local youth learn the valuable life lessons taught through sport."
The event will be held at 3pm at the Complexes Sportifs Terrebonne. A clinic will be held prior to the game, at 1pm, for young participants aged between 6-14 years old. Tickets are currently available on EventBrite, and on www.baseballempire.com.
