Second Harvest and Loblaw Companies Ltd. Kick Off Their Annual Toronto Turkey Drive
TORONTO, Dec. 5, 2012 /CNW/ - The holiday season is here, and nothing says celebration like 6,000 turkeys shared across Toronto's local communities. Beginning December 8th, Second Harvest in partnership with Loblaw Companies Limited will be kicking off their annual Turkey Drive by putting on their best turkey suits in an effort to provide holiday meals to thousands of Torontonians in need.
"Initiated over ten years ago, Second Harvest's Turkey Drive and Loblaws have delivered over 46,000 turkeys to community agencies across Toronto," said Katherine Moffat, Interim Director of Communications at Second Harvest. "With the support of Loblaws® stores across the city, we'll continue to deliver festive cheer to those in need during the holiday season."
This year, Second Harvest aims to raise 6,000 turkeys over two weekends. Individuals can help by visiting a participating Loblaws® store and purchasing a turkey to donate onsite. The turkeys will then be delivered to community agencies and meal programs across the city.
