Second Tsawwassen Legislature Begins Sitting
TSAWWASSEN, BC, Nov. 6, 2012 /CNW/ - The first session of the second Tsawwassen Legislature, the highest governing body in Tsawwassen Law, will begin on November 7, 2012. The second Legislature of Tsawwassen First Nation, the first Treaty First Nation under the BC Treaty Process, was elected at a TFN general election on September 5, 2012.
"Our first Legislature accomplished a lot for the development of our Government and our People's future," said Chief Bryce Williams. "They set a very high standard for our new Legislature and Council - and I'm pleased that we have a mix of experience, with Legislators from our first term, as well some new Legislators too. I'm looking forward to moving ahead with our economic development goals, and the further development of our Government, culture and services."
Among the topics to be discussed at this Legislative session are TFN's Land Management Act, the 2013-2018 Strategic Plan, the draft Service Plan Update, the Economic Development Progress Report and other topics.
The Legislature will meet on November 7, 13, 15, 19 and 21.
The formal opening of the Legislature will be held at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 7, 2012, in the Tsawwassen First Nation Longhouse.
