SEGAL CENTRE FOR PERFORMING ARTS CEO NAMED AMONG THE 100 MOST POWERFUL WOMEN
IN CANADA
Manon Gauthier awarded the WXN's prestigious distinction
in the Arts & Communications category
MONTREAL, Nov. 30 /CNW Telbec/ - The Segal Centre for Performing Arts is celebrating its Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Manon Gauthier, who was recognized by the Women's Executive Network (WXN) as one of Canada's 100 Most Powerful Women in 2010 in the Sun Life Financial Arts & Communications category. Ms. Gauthier is the only Quebecer to win an award in this category. She won alongside women such as Karen Kain, Artistic Director of the National Ballet of Canada, and Ann Lewis-Luppino, President and CEO of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra. This year, nine Quebecers received the WXN's prestigious award (http://www.top100women.ca).
"Manon Gauthier's inclusion on the WXN's prestigious list reinforces the privilege we have always felt having her lead our organization. We are delighted that her passion for the arts and her leadership in communications have been recognized by this renowned organization," said Mr. Alvin Segal, O.C., Chairman of the Segal Center for Performing Arts.
"The arts play a crucial role in our society. They serve as a universal language and allow us to build bridges between communities to promote intercultural dialogue. The Segal Centre recognizes the importance of collaboration between the worlds of philanthropy, business and the arts in order to benefit our community. In my role as CEO, I strive each day to unite these worlds. It is with pride that I receive this Top 100™ Award, and I hope this will help me highlight the strength of female leadership in Canada. Pamela Jeffery's leadership as founder of the WXN and creator of the Awards reminds us of the importance for equality in women's roles in our society," said Manon Gauthier.
Manon Gauthier's carreer spans more than twenty years in communications and public affairs. Named head of the Segal Centre for Performing Arts in January of 2010, Ms. Gauthier is convinced that corporate social responsibility directly affects the sustainability of the arts. She has long claimed the importance of recognizing the arts as a pillar of sustainable economic development, one through which a society defines itself and showcases its diversity, history and heritage.
