COWANSVILLE, QC, Feb. 12, 2021 /CNW Telbec/ - On February 6, 2021, as a result of the vigilance of staff members, contraband and unauthorized items were seized at Cowansville Institution, a medium-security unit.
The contraband and unauthorized items seized included 320.7 grams of hashish, 445 grams of tobacco and 2 cell phones. The total estimated institutional value of this seizure is $42 390.
The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) uses a number of tools to prevent drugs from entering its institutions. These tools include ion scanners and drug-detector dogs to search buildings, personal property, inmates and visitors.
