"Senior Solutions": Teams Across Ontario Come Together To Celebrate And Learn

TORONTO, Sept. 21, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - FIRST Robotics Canada is pleased to announce that teams across Ontario will be coming together to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL) in Canada and kickoff the Senior Solutions ® competition season. The event will take place at Crescent School in Toronto and will include hands-on workshops for registered teams and their coaches, and run from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM.

FLL introduces children age 9-14 to real-world engineering challenges by conducting research projects and building LEGO-based autonomous robots to complete tasks on a thematic playing surface. FLL teams, guided by their imaginations, discover exciting career possibilities and learn to make positive contributions to society.

This year's challenge, Senior Solutions ®, engages kids in exploring ways to improve the quality of life for seniors by helping them continue to be independent, engaged, and connected in their communities.

FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is an international non-profit organization designed to inspire students to pursue further studies and careers in science, engineering, computers and technology. Students develop skills in problem solving, innovation, leadership, and teamwork as well as designing, programming, and testing robots. FIRST's programs reach 250,000 students in 57 countries. FIRST Robotics Canada, a Canadian non-profit started in 2002, now reaches some 7,000 Canadian students.

FIRST LEGO League in Ontario is supported by the Ministry of Education, Government of Ontario, and the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario.
