NEW HEATHER'S PICK
Indigo CEO and Chief Booklover Heather Reisman is announcing a new Heather's Pick for September: Hillbilly Elegy. This headline-grabbing memoir by J.D. Vance, former marine and Yale Law School graduate, shines light on the unique challenges of growing up in a poor Rust Belt town in the United States. The book offers a broader, probing look at the struggles of America's white working class, and offers a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis.
A deeply moving memoir with its share of humor and vividly colorful figures, Hillbilly Elegy is the story of how upward mobility really feels. And it is an urgent and troubling meditation on the loss of the American dream for a large section of American society.

September's Staff Pick of the Month is Dark Matter by Blake Crouch. This mind-bending, relentlessly surprising sci-fi thriller from the bestselling author of the Wayward Pines trilogy is sure to get readers' hearts thumping this September. When Jason Dessen awakens to find himself strapped to a gurney, surrounded by strangers in hazmat suits, he must quickly determine where he is and why. In the world he's woken up to, Jason's life is not the one he knows – was his past reality, with a wife and son, only ever just a dream? The answers lie in a journey more wondrous and horrifying than anything he could've imagined—one that will force him to confront the darkest parts of himself even as he battles a terrifying, seemingly unbeatable foe.
