Service resumes for clients of Canadian Red Cross and Red Cross Care Partners

TORONTO, Dec. 27, 2013 /CNW/ - The following statement was issued today on behalf of Canadian Red Cross and Red Cross Care Partners regarding the status of contract negotiations with SEIU Healthcare, the union representing Personal Support Workers of both organizations:

On December 24, SEIU Healthcare, Canadian Red Cross and Red Cross Care Partners mutually agreed to an arbitration to end the strike action that began on December 11. The arbitration will occur in January.

Employees return to work on December 27.

We recognize that this has been a challenging time for some of our clients and their families.  Our clients' safety and well being has been our top priority and we are pleased that a resolution to the strike has been reached and that regular service for all of our clients will resume.
