Settlement discussions to occur in Canadian Armed Forces sexual assault, harassment and gender based discrimination class actions Français
TORONTO and OTTAWA, Feb. 23, 2018 /CNW/ - The plaintiffs in class actions on behalf of survivors of sexual assault, sexual harassment and gender-based discrimination in the Canadian Armed Forces announce that the Government of Canada has agreed to commence settlement discussions in these matters. In order to facilitate these discussions, the parties are jointly requesting that the Federal Court adjourn the motions for certification, which were scheduled to proceed on July 9, 2018, until February 2019.
Class actions on behalf of survivors of sexual assault, sexual harassment and gender-based discrimination in the Canadian Armed Forces were commenced in late 2016 and early 2017 in Toronto, Ottawa, Halifax, Quebec City and Victoria.
