20+ online and in-person events will capture both solemn remembrance and cultural celebration
MONTREAL, Jan. 22, 2025 /CNW/ - Community members and leaders from all walks of life are invited to immerse themselves in an expansive online and in-person series of events for the seventh annual Muslim Awareness Week (MAW) that will be held from January 24 until January 31. The launch will take place on Friday January 24 at 1 PM in Montréal City Hall (275 Notre-Dame St. East, Montreal).

Building relationships is key to cultivating healthy, vibrant communities," said Samira Laouni, chair of Muslim Awareness Week. "We may all come from different backgrounds and walks of life, but we are all proud Quebecers, and when we invest in getting to know one another, everybody wins."
There will be a strong interfaith and community component, with participation by members of various faith communities, including remarks from Minister Paula Kline and Daniel Amar, Executive Director of the Montreal Holocaust Museum and Boufeldja Benabdallah, President of the Quebec City Mosque. We will also hear from a number of politicians and civic leaders, including from Montreal City Councillors Aref Salem and Alia Hassan-Cournol.
This year marks the fourth National Day of Remembrance of the Quebec City Mosque Attack and Action Against Islamophobia. In the lead-up to the eighth annual anniversary of the Quebec City Mosque attack, And, as it does every year, MAW is also organizing a vigil on January 29 in Montreal at Parc Métro.
