SHARP'S LEO PETACCIA WINS SECOND CONSECUTIVE "BEST MALE GROOMING FEATURE
(ENGLISH)" AWARD AT 2nd ANNUAL P&G BEAUTY AWARDS
17 awards were presented to the beauty and grooming industry's top creative talent.
TORONTO, Nov. 17 /CNW/ - Last Thursday at the second annual Procter & Gamble Beauty Awards, Sharp Magazine once again proved why it's the leading Canadian resource for men. Leo Petaccia, Associate Editor of Sharp magazine and Editor of sharpformen.com, won the awards for "Best Male Grooming Feature (English)" for "Sharp's Guide to Grooming for Every Man," featured in Sharp's November 2009 issue.
Petaccia was awarded the crystal Tiffany's piece last Thursday night at a posh event held at The Carlu in downtown Toronto. His was among the top names in Canadian fashion, beauty and grooming. "The Sharp Grooming Guide is an annual feature and one we've become recognized for," said Petaccia. "Even so I decided to take a fresh approach. This piece was designed to educate men of various backgrounds, and to speak to these different men's tastes. I addressed these specifics and recommended products and practices that suit different men's needs. We referenced some of Canada's and the U.S.'s most reputable health experts, doctors and dermatologists for their advice."
Sharp's Editor, Jeremy Freed, commended Petaccia on his achievement, adding, "This stands as a testament not just to Leo as Canada's foremost men's grooming editor, but to Sharp's dedication to providing Canadian men with the kind of information they want and need, whether in grooming, fashion, travel, cars or any of the other areas Sharp covers."
There were 17 awards presented in total, each recognizing the hard work and efforts of Canada's brightest talent in the fashion, beauty and grooming industries. P&G Beauty selected an illustrious panel of influential and independent Canadian beauty and fashion veterans, among them former editors and current University professors, who judged the pieces and identified the winners.
John McGouran, Sharp's Publisher, was thrilled upon hearing the announcement and felt this accolade cemented Sharp's position as Canada's most prominent men's publications. "Canadian marketers are now reaching the male consumer effectively and Sharp's unique voice is undeniably the biggest part of that. I'm very proud of Leo's achievement. He has represented us to the highest standard possible and this award validates that."
