Shaw Media gives HISTORY® subscribers anytime, anywhere access to fan-favourite series with HISTORY Go app
HISTORY Go offers almost 300 hours of programming, including 250 hours of Canadian content
TORONTO, Feb. 27, 2014 /CNW/ - Today, Shaw Media launches HISTORY Go, one of the most robust TV everywhere experiences in the country. Available on iOS, Android, and the newly enhanced history.ca, HISTORY Go offers HISTORY subscribers almost 300 hours of fan-favourite programming. The app launches in time for season two of the hit series Vikings, which broadcasts Thursdays at 10pm ET/PT, beginning today, with each episode becoming available on HISTORY Go the day following its premiere broadcast.
"HISTORY Go is a strong addition to Shaw's TV everywhere offerings, providing HISTORY subscribers with a substantial library of the channel's top content," said Paul Robertson, Executive Vice President and President, Shaw Media. "We are dedicated to giving TV subscribers greater choice and flexibility over what they watch, how they watch, and when they watch, and with the launch of HISTORY Go we are continuing to deliver on that commitment."
With HISTORY Go, viewers across the country can access more HISTORY programming online and mobile than ever before. HISTORY subscribers can log-in to the app or history.ca to tap into an extensive collection of top-ranked HISTORY series or live-stream the channel straight from their device or computer.
The HISTORY Go library boasts over 20 HISTORY series available to watch anytime, anywhere, including:
- The entire first season of last year's #1 specialty drama, Vikings*. Season two episodes will be available the day following their premiere broadcast.
- HISTORY's #1 Canadian unscripted series of 2013, Yukon Gold**, both the full first season, and new episodes after they broadcast.
- Full seasons of HISTORY's current top five shows, Ice Pilots NWT, Pawn Stars, The Curse of Oak Island, American Restoration, and Appalachian Outlaws***.
HISTORY Go launches today with Shaw, Shaw Direct, Rogers Communications, as well as several CCSA distributors. HISTORY Go will be available to TELUS Optik TV™ and Cogeco Cable Canada subscribers in March, with other TV service providers expected to follow. This is the second TV app offered by Shaw Media; the first, Global Go, is the most subscribed to conventional network TV Everywhere product in Canada.
