shomi™ invites you to come out and play with new slate of family-friendly TV shows from DHX and Corus
More than 6,500 episodes of kids TV and family movies on shomi!
TORONTO, Feb. 5, 2015 /CNW/ - While we aren't able to go outside and enjoy Miss Spider's Sunny Patch, this winter doesn't have to be all Blue's Clues. shomi has everything families need to warm up together this season with new kids content from DHX Media and Corus Entertainment.
shomi has quickly become one of the most popular entertainment hubs for kids, with all of the most beloved kids programming from family channels including YTV, Nickelodeon (Canada), and Treehouse. The all-star lineup features favourite shows Yo Gabba Gabba!, Johnny Test, Are You Afraid of the Dark, iCarly, Super Mario Super Show, Dora the Explorer, The Fairly OddParents, and SpongeBob SquarePants.
"As a mom, it's really important to me that shomi has a large selection of quality kids content for every age that parents can trust and feel comfortable with," said Marni Shulman, Head of Content & Programming, shomi. "We believe that a great SVOD service not only satisfies the entertainment needs of grownups, but also thinks about what will make their children happy and what they can all watch together as a family. shomi has done just that with amazing kid-friendly content chosen by parents."
shomi has more than 6,500 episodes of TV shows and movies for kids. Today's content deal announcements with DHX and Corus include the following family-fare shows:

Corus |
Max and Ruby |
With shomi, kids can create their own profiles with fun avatars. Parents also have the ability to control access to programming rated PG and below, while separate profiles also enable parents to see what their kids are watching.
"We're delighted to share more than 20 iconic brands from Nelvana and Nickelodeon (Canada) with shomi including iCarly, SpongeBob SquarePants, Franklin and Max and Ruby, so that they can continue to be enjoyed by Canadian families," said Colin Bohm, Vice President, Television, Head of Corus Kids.
"From Caillou and Johnny Test to Yo Gabba Gabba!, DHX Media knows what kids are looking for in great entertainment, and how important it is for parents to have confidence in the streaming services their children use," said Josh Scherba, SVP Distribution at DHX Media. "DHX Media is proud to join forces with shomi so that Canadian kids and parents can continue to enjoy these iconic characters and timeless stories."
Today's news isn't the first on the family front for shomi. In November, the popcorn and magic of shomi met the magic of Disney, adding a slew of family favourites to the roster with such favourites as 102 Dalmatians, The Parent Trap (1998), Sky High, Who Framed Rogers Rabbit, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. shomi is the only SVOD in Canada to carry these classic and sought-after kids titles.
shomi is available now in beta first to Rogers and Shaw Internet or cable customers, while conversations continue with other BDUs. With an all-star lineup of exclusive past-seasons of many of the hottest shows on television as well as movie favourites, Canadians are able to enjoy shomi online and on select tablets, mobile devices, and set top boxes (on Rogers Channel 300 or through the Shaw On Demand menu) and Xbox 360. shomi will also be coming soon to Chromecast.
