TORONTO, April 28, 2015 /CNW/ - A spy, a gnome, and a pair of head bangers meet at the end of the world… wait, that's not right. A comedian, a solider, and a hit man survive a plane crash… or is it that they crash a wedding? Either way they'll all be hanging out on shomi™ soon thanks to a new deal with Entertainment One (eOne). Beginning in May, shomi will add more than 175 movies including the drama Tinker Tailor Solider Spy, family favourite Gnomeo & Juliet, Canadian cult-comedy Fubar, and the romance Seeking a Friend for the End of the World. Comedy, drama, action, sci-fi, romance, kids, and stand-up – shomi's got something from eOne for any streaming mood this summer.
Want some summer lovin'? shomi offers movies featuring loners and legends looking for love with Moonrise Kingdom and My Week With Marilyn, and will make your heart swell with Beasts of the Southern Wild.
Skip right to the action with law breakers (Shoot 'Em Up,), law upholders (Dredd), special-ops agents (Killer Elite), and survivors (The Grey). Or head out of this world with sci-fi flicks Pan Dorum and Pan's Labyrinth. Just don't forget about award winning-dramas like Zero Dark Thirty, The Hurt Locker, and the Tarantino classic Pulp Fiction.
Too stressful? Relax by the campfire with cult-classic Wet Hot American Summer, go for a ride with Adventureland, and get front row access to one of today's most popular comedians with Kevin Hart: Let Me Explain. Or share the screen with the rest of the family with the kid-approved Coraline and Hoodwinked.
"From classic to guilty pleasures, these new eOne titles take our movie catalogue to the next level," said Marni Shulman, Head of Content and Programming, shomi. "This deal is a movie-lover's dream."
More than movies, there is TV too! This deal also includes exclusive Canadian streaming rights to Showtime's Emmy®-nominated Web Therapy with Lisa Kudrow, and BBC Brit-comedy romp The Trip starting Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon. Parents and kids will squeal (and maybe oink?) with delight with the addition of Peppa Pig.
"shomi shares our passion for entertainment and we are delighted to partner with them to deliver such a great selection of films and series to their members," said Patrick Roy, President, Entertainment One Films Canada & Les Films Seville.
