Shoppers Drug Mart Launches Online Nutrition Service in Ontario
New nutrition service can help busy Ontarians navigate healthy eating
TORONTO, Feb. 26, 2019 /CNW/ - Making better food choices can have a positive impact on your overall health and well-being, yet research shows that almost forty per cent of Canadians find it difficult to distinguish between healthy and unhealthy food.i To help address this need, today, Shoppers Drug Mart announced a new online nutrition service delivered by their registered dietitians, to provide busy Canadians with convenient access to personalized nutrition information to support their wellness journey. Ontarians can now connect with a Shoppers Drug Mart registered dietitian through video or telephone counselling from a location convenient to them, anywhere in the province.
"Not all Ontarians have easy access to dietitian services," says Emily Campbell, Registered Dietitian, Shoppers Drug Mart. "With this new service, all you need is a mobile device, or a computer and you can have one-on-one personalized nutrition counselling from a registered dietitian to help you meet your health and nutrition goals through developing sustainable habits."
The Shoppers Drug Mart™ online nutrition service includes:
- An initial nutrition consultation consisting of an approximately 60-minute personalized comprehensive nutrition assessment of your eating habits and the creation of a tailored nutrition plan
- Follow-up nutrition consultations to help patients stay on track and learn practical strategies to help overcome challenges
Consultations are available with a phone call, or virtual call on a computer or mobile device between 12 p.m. and 8 p.m. EST, Monday through Thursday, excluding holidays.
"Our goal is to make personalized nutrition counselling convenient for residents of Ontario," says Theresa Firestone, Senior Vice President, Health and Wellness Services. "Our online nutrition service provides the same expert counselling you receive in-store but from a location and time that is convenient for you."
Making healthier food choices doesn't have to be difficult or confusing. Many insurance plans cover the cost of dietitian services. If you'd like to learn more about this service and book your initial consultation, please visit www.shoppersdrugmart.ca/dietitians.
