Shoppers Drug Mart Stores Across Alberta, Atlantic and Prairies Support Look Good Feel Better this Saturday May 3rd
TORONTO, April 29, 2014 /CNW/ - In support of our commitment to improving women's health through Shoppers Drug Mart WOMEN, stores across the country will be holding in-store Spring Makeover Events on Saturday May 3, 2014 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. All participating Shoppers Drug Mart stores in Alberta, Atlantic Region and Prairies will host the Makeover Events in support of Look Good Feel Better.
Sherry Abbott, Executive Director of the Canadian Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association (CCTFA) Foundation, home of the Look Good Feel Better program, applauds Shoppers Drug Mart in their efforts. "Shoppers Drug Mart has played a significant role in helping us in our mission to foster greater awareness, support and understanding of the social and emotional needs of women living with cancer since 2011," says Ms. Abbott. "We thank Shoppers Drug Mart for their continued dedication and contributions to the well-being of women in communities all across Canada."
The RBC Foundation will be donating $50,000 to Look Good Feel Better, in addition to the funds raised at the Spring Makeover Cosmetic Events. The RBC Foundation has been a long standing supporter of the CCTFA Foundation since 1995, and has donated over $700,000 to the foundation, of which over $370,000 has gone directly to Look Good Feel Better. In addition, RBC Advisors will be on-site at select stores during the May 3rd Makeover Events to speak to customers about the RBC Shoppers Optimum MasterCard and Banking Account, two products offered through the RBC-Shoppers Drug Mart Alliance that help customers accelerate their Optimum points earning power and allow them to "Get Free Stuff Faster".
"Women affected by cancer not only face a physical battle but often an emotional one as well. The effects that the disease and its treatments can have on their appearance can also take a toll on their spirit", says Jasmina Zurovac, RBC Director corporate donations. "We are proud to support Look Good Feel Better in empowering women to face their illness with greater confidence at every stage of their journey."
The events will include various activities including, but not limited to, skin analysis and makeup applications as well as special draws and raffles will be held. This great event will allow customers to discover their own beauty while doing their part in giving back to the community to help women,Feel, Look and Live Better for Life. Tickets are available for $10 and can be purchased at your local Shoppers Drug Mart. Half ($5) of each ticket sold will be donated to Look Good Feel Better, while the remaining $5 can be redeemed on any cosmetic purchase made at Shoppers Drug Mart during the event.

The money raised will go to Look Good Feel Better workshops and educational programs they offer at 120 cancer care facilities and hospitals across the country. Based on the premise that if a woman with cancer can be helped to look good, chances are she will feel better, her spirits will be lifted and she will be empowered to face her illness with greater confidence. The support that the women who take part in the Look Good Feel Better program(s) receive is unparalleled and it moves beyond treatment.
With each workshop women with cancer are provided with tips and techniques on cosmetic applications, nail and skin care, hair alternatives and cosmetic hygiene, to help regain self-confidence, both physically and emotionally.
Beyond the Look Good Feel Better program, Shoppers Drug Mart WOMEN is the proud title sponsor of, Facingcancer.ca. Started in 2010 by the CCTFA Foundation, Facingcancer.ca is an online community for women with cancer and their support networks. This online community provides a safe place for women with cancer to come together to share their stories, connect with experts, watch video workshops and find additional resources to help manage the physical, social and emotional effects of living with cancer.
