Shoppers Drug Mart Stores Across Ontario and BC Support The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation this Saturday May 3rd
TORONTO, April 29, 2014 /CNW/ - In support of our commitment to improving women's health through Shoppers Drug Mart WOMEN, stores across the country will be holding in-store Spring Makeover Events on Saturday May 3, 2014 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. All participating Shoppers Drug Mart stores in Ontario and British Columbia/Yukon will host the Makeover Events in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF).
"Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation is grateful to Shoppers Drug Mart Associate-owners, store teams, employees and customers for their passion and commitment to our vision of a future without breast cancer," said Wendy Slavin, CEO, CBCF-BC/Yukon Region. "Funds raised through the Spring Makeover Events will support the purchase of digital mammography vehicles to improve access to screening for all women in our province."
The events will offer various activities including, but not limited to, skin analysis and makeup applications as well as special draws and raffles will be held. This great event will allow customers to discover their own beauty while doing their part in giving back to the community to help women Feel, Look and Live Better for Life. Tickets are available for $10 and can be purchased at your local Shoppers Drug Mart. Half ($5) of each ticket sold will be donated to CBCF, while the remaining $5 is redeemable on any cosmetic purchase made at Shoppers Drug Mart during the event.
"The Spring Makeover Events allow customers and employees the opportunity to donate directly to the organizations that make a difference to women's health," said Lisa Gibbs, Director, Community Investment, Shoppers Drug Mart. "With the support of our Associate-owners, their store teams, our employees and customers, we can make a difference and improve the health of all Canadian women in body, mind and spirit."
The funds raised through these events will give customers a chance to learn more about their breast health and how they can reduce the risk of breast cancer. In creating CBCF's first-ever digital breast health tool (in Ontario) and purchasing three mobile digital mammography units for five years (in British Columbia/Yukon), women throughout these provinces will not only have additional resources to learn about breast cancer but more opportunity and accessibility to get screened.
