Shoppers Drug Mart Stores Across Ontario Support the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation this Saturday November 8th
TORONTO, Nov. 6, 2014 /CNW/ - (TSX: L) – In support of our commitment to improving women's health through Shoppers Drug Mart WOMEN, stores across the country will be holding in-store Holiday Beauty Galas on Saturday November 8th, 2014. All participating Shoppers Drug Mart stores in Ontario will host the Galas in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF). The goal for Fall 2014 is to raise $375,000.
"The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation is grateful to Shoppers Drug Mart Associate-owners, store teams, employees and customers for their passion and commitment to our vision of creating a future without breast cancer," said Wendy Slavin, CEO, CBCF – BC/Yukon Region. "Funds raised through the Holiday Beauty Galas will support the purchase of digital mammography vehicles to improve accessibility to screening for all women in our province."
The Galas will offer various activities including, but not limited to, skin analysis and makeup applications, as well as special draws and raffles. This great event will allow customers to discover their own beauty while doing their part in giving back to the community to help women Feel, Look and Live Better for Life. Tickets are available for $10 and can be purchased at your local Shoppers Drug Mart. Half ($5) of each ticket sold will be donated to the Foundation, while the remaining $5 is redeemable on any cosmetic purchase made at Shoppers Drug Mart during the event.
"The Holiday Beauty Galas allow customers and employees the opportunity to donate directly to the organizations that make a difference to women's health," said Lisa Gibbs, Director, Community Investment, Shoppers Drug Mart. "With the support of our Associate-owners, their store teams, our employees and customers, we can make a difference and improve the health of all Canadian women in body, mind and spirit."
The funds raised through these events will give customers a chance to learn more about their breast health and ways they can help reduce the risk of breast cancer. CBCF will create the first-ever digital breast health tool (in Ontario) offering women throughout Ontario additional resources to learn about breast cancer, and give them the opportunity and accessibility to get screened.
"CBCF is grateful to Shoppers Drug Mart employees and customers for their commitment to the breast cancer community," said Sandra Palmaro, CEO, CBCF-Ontario Region. "In Ontario, funds raised through the Holiday Beauty Galas support CBCF's brand new online breast health tool, where women can create their personalized breast health plan and learn how they can reduce their risk of breast cancer."
