Short-listed construction teams invited to bid on Quinte Consolidated

BELLEVILLE, ON, May 13 /CNW/ - Infrastructure Ontario and the Ministry of the Attorney General released a request for proposals (RFP) today inviting short-listed companies to submit proposals to design, build, finance and maintain a new consolidated courthouse in Belleville, Ontario.
The new facility, to be located at Coleman and Bridge Streets, will improve access to courthouse services by consolidating the Superior Court of Justice and Ontario Court of Justice, which are currently operating in three locations in Belleville and one in Trenton.
The new courthouse will improve access to justice for the County of Hastings by increasing the number of available courtrooms, providing better security and improving access for people with disabilities.
The Quinte Consolidated Courthouse will be designed and built to meet the Canada Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver standards, incorporating environmentally sustainable construction practices and energy efficient design.
The three short-listed companies invited to bid are:
- Balfour Beatty Capital - Canada consisting of Balfour Beatty Capital - Canada, a division of Balfour Beatty Holdings Canada Ltd.; Balfour Beatty Communities LLC; Balfour Beatty Construction; Carruthers & Wallace, a Trow Company; Eastern Construction Ltd.; Heery International, Inc.; Investec North America Ltd.; Martin Facility Services, a division of Compass Group Canada; Kasian Architecture Ontario Inc.; MCW Consultants Ltd.; Mulvey & Banani International, Inc.; and Sutherland-Schultz, a Vollmer Company. - Brookfield Partnerships Quinte consisting of Brookfield Financial; Halsall Associates Ltd.; Hidi Rae Consulting Engineers; Modern Niagara Ottawa Inc.; Morguard Investments Ltd.; PCL Constructors Canada Inc.; Plan Group Inc.; The Mitchell Partnership Inc.; and WZMH Architects. - Carillion Courthouse Solutions consisting of +VG Toronto, Carillion Canada Inc.; Carilion Construction Inc.; Carillion Private Finance; HOK Architects; MMM Group; Sprint insight; and Univex Group of Companies.
A request for qualifications issued in August 2009 short-listed the three teams with the development, design, construction, financial, and facilities management capacity to undertake a project of this size and complexity.
Once submissions to the RFP are received and evaluated, the successful project team will be selected and announced in spring 2011; construction is expected to begin shortly after. A copy of the RFP is available on Infrastructure Ontario's website at www.infrastructureontario.ca.

Infrastructure Ontario and the Ministry of the Attorney General are working to develop the new courthouse, which will remain publicly owned, publicly controlled and publicly accountable. Infrastructure Ontario is a Crown corporation dedicated to managing some of the province's larger and more complex infrastructure renewal projects - ensuring they are built on time and on budget.
