MONTREAL, Nov. 29, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - Mia's 15. Her goal? Become goalie for Team Canada. But to make that dream come true, she needs excellent knees. When she injured a knee, she therefore came to Shriners Hospitals for Children® – Canada, a world expert in pediatric orthopaedics. Mark Burman, M.D., operated and the physiotherapy team at Canada Shriners Hospital has been getting her knee back in shape ever since.
Surgeons at Canada Shriners Hospital operate on hundreds of teens a year with injuries to their legs or arms, often knees. We have the experts. Most patients, like Mia, are determined when it comes to working hard in rehabilitation to get back to their lives and their favourite sports. But for success, we also need the right equipment.
On this day of giving, #GivingTuesdayCA, we're asking Canadians to help us buy a $5000 physiotherapy bicycle that 90% of our patients will use – that's thousands of kids and teens. It will help them get back on their feet more quickly and safely. Gifts will go twice as far as Dorel will match donations. We're asking Canadians to help teens like Mia reach their dreams.
