SIR Royalty Income Fund Temporarily Suspends Unitholder Distributions
-- The suspension of distributions is necessitated by SIR Corp.'s temporary closure of dine-in restaurant operations at all of its locations in response to the COVID-19 pandemic –
BURLINGTON, ON, March 23, 2020 /CNW/ - SIR Royalty Income Fund (TSX: SRV.UN) ("the Fund") today announced that SIR Corp. ("SIR" or the "Company"), the operating entity from which the Fund is indirectly entitled to receive distributions, has temporarily suspended its dine-in restaurant operations at all of its locations. The suspension of dine-in operations is in response to government directives issued to help contain the spread of COVID-19. As a result of the suspension of SIR's dine-in operations, the Trustees of the Fund have temporarily suspended unitholder distributions until further notice. The Fund intends to pay its previously declared cash distribution of $0.0875 per unit for the period February 1, 2020 to February 29, 2020, payable on March 31, 2020 to unitholders of record at the close of business on March 20, 2020.
As part of its business continuity plan, SIR has advised the Fund that it will, to the extent possible, continue to offer take-out and delivery services at its Jack Astor's and Scaddabush locations. SIR is also developing a new "No-Contact" curbside option for pick-up orders in the coming days. However, SIR has advised the Fund that the negative impacts from COVID-19, including the temporary closure of its dine-in restaurant operations, will have a material impact on the results of SIR. As a result, SIR has advised the Fund that it may not be able to make some or all contemplated payments in the medium term. Further, it may not be in compliance with certain covenants in its current credit agreement in future periods. SIR is working in combination with its lender, landlords and suppliers in an effort to maintain continued support of SIR to ensure its long-term viability. SIR and the Fund are also exploring whether insurance may be available to provide some financial support. There can be no assurance that insurance support will be available, or that SIR will reach support agreements with its lender, landlords or suppliers.
