Government of Canada awards nearly $1.5 million in financial assistance to Khrome Product - Transport, POMPCO, Aéronergie, AMP Drummond, ECC Solutions and Laser Datoph

Businesses need to be able to rely on adequate resources to create and commercialize innovative products. In 2017, the Government of Canada adopted an ambitious plan to support innovative Canadian businesses. As a true economic driver, innovation is the key to Canada's success because it generates growth that benefits businesses and communities.
Thanks to CED's financial support, six Centre-du-Québec businesses will be able to carry out projects that will generate more than $6.2M in investments in the region. The projects consist in improving productivity by upgrading their state-of-the-art equipment, implementing commercialization strategies and diversifying their business activities. The contributions are also expected to create more than 20 jobs in the region.
The repayable contributions totalling $1,486,558 were announced today by the Honourable Marc Garneau, Minister of Transport, acting on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED.
The six recipient businesses are Khrome Product – Transport (KPT), POMPCO, Aéronergie, ECC Solutions Inc., AMP Drummond Inc. and Laser Datoph Inc.
The funding awarded through CED's Quebec Economic Development Program will help these companies achieve their growth objectives.

Repayable contribution of $350,000 out of a total investment of $2,080,000 The project consists in growing the business by expanding and refitting the facilities and acquiring equipment. The Agency's contribution will go toward the purchase of production equipment, including a lathe and milling machine, and the purchase and implementation of an ERP system. The project is expected to create four jobs. Founded in 1977, POMPCO is family SME with 18 employees. The company develops, manufactures and commercializes top-quality piston pumps, centrifugal pumps and submersibles for farms, houses, cottages, etc. |

Repayable contribution of $262,500 out of a total investment of $1,591,500 The project consists in improving the enterprise's productivity and increasing its production capacity through the acquisition of production equipment. CED's contribution went toward the acquisition and installation of a fibre-optic laser, an overhead crane and an automated feed table. The project created three jobs. Founded in 2009, Laser Datoph is located in Drummondville and specializes in steel and other metal laser cutting and folding. The company now has 15 employees and is part of the value chains in the manufacturing, construction, agricultural, heavy machinery and transportation industries. |

Two repayable contributions of $96,000 and $108,000 out of total investments of $200,000 and $666,000 The first project consists in implementing a commercialization strategy in the United States and Canada for the sale of thermal solar panels. CED's contribution will go toward the commercialization activities, including the hiring of a specialized resource. The second project involves improving the company's productivity and production capacity through the acquisition and installation of production equipment and production-related computer hardware. CED's contribution will go toward the acquisition of overhead cranes, welding machines, a cargo hoist, a testbed, computer hardware and smaller equipment for workstations. The equipment will be used to manufacture all the products that are part of the innovative ventilation solutions developed by the company. The projects are expected to create six jobs. Founded in 2011, Aéronergie designs, manufactures and installs custom ventilation solutions, such as air curtains and flexible fabric ducting, to reduce energy bills for businesses. The thermal solar panels are ahead of the competition with a thermal energy capture coefficient that is 20% higher than that of the competition. The company has over 30 employees in Drummondville. |

Repayable contribution of $105,000 out of a total investment of $300,000 The project consists in planning and implementing a digital commercialization strategy for the U.S. and Canadian markets, which includes updating the Internet site, developing a digital image of the product and creating advertisements. CED's assistance will cover the cost of experts in digital commercialization and high search engine ranking on the Internet. Founded in 2002, AMP Drummond Inc. is a manufacturer that specializes in precision machining and the manufacture of anti-theft locks and padlocks for many types of trailers and vehicles. The range of products includes locks for trailers, fifth wheels and horse trailers and anti-theft systems for snowmobiles, boat motors and motorcycles, as well as the company's own padlocks, wheel locks (boots) and trailer door and window locks. The Drummondville company has around 15 employees. |

Repayable contribution of $20,807 out of a total investment of $166,307 The project consists in implementing a commercialization strategy in the United States to diversify the business's clientele. CED's contribution will cover trade show participation and client prospecting costs. Founded in 2010 and launched in 2013, KPT specializes in the rail transportation sector. Its product and service lines focus on three areas: engineering, manufacturing and integration. The Drummondville company has 33 employees and is a major supplier for North American transport enterprises (Kawasaki Rail Car, Alstom, Bombardier) that deliver projects in Canada and the northeastern United States. |
