Six Day Bike Marathon from Toronto to Ottawa to Raise Money for Families of Fallen Soldiers
North American Moving Services & Canada Company joining forces for bike marathon
TORONTO, Sept. 17, 2012 /CNW/ - Canada Company, a charitable business group, kicked off a unique six day bike marathon challenge tagged '3rd Annual North American Moving Services Tour de Force' to raise money to fund post secondary scholarships for children of fallen Canadian Forces personnel. North American Moving Services Canada is a major participant and the driving force behind this unique journey which began at the Air Canada Centre this morning for 41 riders and will culminate on September 22 in Ottawa, Ontario.
"We are honoured to partner with Canada Company in the third annual Tour de Force in support of the families and children of our Canadian military," said North American Moving Services' Vice-President, Kevin Devereux. "This opportunity allows us and all the riders and sponsors who make this possible to demonstrate our gratitude for the service of our Canadian Forces members," he added.
The group of 41 riders are travelling through locations in Ontario including Toronto, Oshawa, Newcastle, Trenton, Kingston, Brockville, Perth and Ottawa.
The Tour de Force will be divided into six 70 to 127 km stages, concluding every day with community celebrations and some special activities planned by Canadian Forces such as Tank and Armoured Personnel Carrier tours, Aircraft Displays/Flight Simulators, and search and rescue exercises with the Royal Canadian Navy. Money raised will support the children of military families by providing funding for programs such as Camps for Kids of Deployed Soldiers and the Canada Company Scholarship Fund.
"I applaud the numerous supporters and participants who are donating their time and energy to such a worthy cause," said Peter Hart, Managing Director of Canada Company. "It is an honour for me to take part in this bike marathon and to see the support given by all the local communities to the families of those who serve," he added.
