The Honourable Justice Manson joined Smart & Biggar in 1982 and specialized in litigation in all areas of intellectual property for over 25 years. He appeared as counsel in numerous patent, trade-mark, industrial design and copyright proceedings before the Federal Court of Canada, the Federal Court of Appeal, the Supreme Court of Ontario and the British Columbia Supreme Court, many of which stand as leading Canadian precedents.
During his career at the firm, the Honourable Justice Manson held several important roles. He was instrumental in expanding the capabilities of the firm's Vancouver office and held the position of Managing Partner of that office for many years. His work and extensive involvement in anti-counterfeiting matters both in Canada and globally, lead to the formation of the firm's IP Crime group. He has a well earned reputation for excellence and diligence among his colleagues, and has made an invaluable contribution to the intellectual property profession and to the firm.
