Smartcool Confirms Test Refrigerated Trailer Uses Up to 28 Gallons of Diesel per Day in the Refrigerated Transport Sector
VANCOUVER, Oct. 1, 2014 /CNW/ - Smartcool Systems Inc. (TSX-V: SSC) is pleased to provide an update on the refrigerated truck testing initiative previously updated on September 17, 2014.
As the compressor of a refrigerated trailer is driven by an independent diesel engine with its own fuel supply source, Smartcool has installed calibration flow meters to measure the supply and return flow rates of the diesel throughout the system. This measurement is required to determine fuel consumption with and without Smartcool technology optimizing compressor efficiency.
Data has been collected on the two identically loaded trailers selected for the test. One trailer is being the controlled by the existing microprocessor controls, one trailer having the Smartcool equipment optimizing the system.
The data has been collected under normal operating parameters to acquire the fuel usage as a base line. Results to date in continuous mode show up to 28 gallons of diesel per day.
As previously reported the Smartcool technology has shown on average a greater than 20% reduction in compressor run time on the refrigerated trailer. We will begin data collection with Smartcool's optimization strategy implemented and will report result (gallons of diesel per day) shortly.
