SmartSource.ca Coupon Site Goes Mobile
News Marketing Canada Brings Online Couponing to Web-Enabled Phones
TORONTO, Sept. 13, 2012 /CNW/ - News Marketing Canada, the premier publisher of coupons in Canada, today announced that its popular consumer coupon site, SmartSource.ca, has gone mobile, delivering unprecedented access to their pioneering online coupon site across a broad spectrum of web-enabled devices.
News Marketing Canada's SmartSource.ca currently offers one of the country's most robust selections of consumer packaged goods coupons available, and was the first site to offer secure, printable coupons online in Canada. The new mobile version of the site uses the same URL and will allow users to scroll through the available offers and select which coupons they want from any web-enabled phone, smartphone or other mobile communications device, without having to download any special software or applications.
"We are thrilled to be bringing this technology to our loyal Canadian consumers, after their enthusiastic response to our online couponing site," said Chris Mixson, president, News America Marketing. "The new generation of saver lives her life via her mobile device and we now have a unique means of reaching her."
For almost twenty years, Canadian consumers have eagerly awaited the arrival of savings in their weekend newspapers though inserts like News Marketing Canada's SmartSource/UtiliSource magazine, a 10MM circulation national magazine, delivered 16 times per year. News Marketing Canada is also behind in-store promotion products designed to reach consumers at shelf in stores nationwide. Ten months ago, News Marketing Canada launched SmartSource.ca, which catapulted Canadian savings into the digital space. The site allows shoppers to instantly print coupons from home. Now taking their coupons mobile, News Marketing Canada is taking the next step in expanding their reach. The easily-accessible mobile site stands apart from many coupon "apps" that require not just web-accessibility, but smartphone technology, and is another way SmartSource/UtiliSource is expanding the frontier of digital savings.
"With smartphone ownership on the rise, we felt it necessary to give as many consumers as possible immediate mobile access to this powerful savings tool," said Mixson. "We have long had a commitment to shoppers to provide them with savings wherever they choose to look, whether in the newspaper, in stores, online, and now, on their mobile devices."
This new phase of digital couponing allows Canadian shoppers to access the same browsing and coupon selection they find on SmartSource.ca on their mobile devices, with content, navigation and interactive screens formatted specifically for web-enabled devices.
"We were eager to make the mobile couponing experience available to our Canadian consumer base," said Henri Lellouche, Senior Vice President, Digital. "Digital couponing solutions where consumers can clip coupons, select samples, or obtain product information via mobile devices are a game-changing promotional tool. The quest for value hasn't changed, but the places you can find it have certainly expanded."
"We recognize and are acting on the fact that we are part of an increasingly digital world," said Lellouche. "Having a digital element to every marketing campaign is increasingly a must. SmartSource is committed to providing thorough digital reach through mobile in all forms both current and future."
The mobile version of smartsource.ca is available immediately.
