SNC-Lavalin announces financial closure for the Grandir en santé expansion project of the CHU Sainte-Justine Français
MONTREAL, May 28, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - SNC-Lavalin (TSX: SNC) is pleased to announce the financial closure and official signing of the Grandir en santé expansion project of the CHU Ste-Justine (CHUSJ). Under the contract, SNC-Lavalin will provide engineering, construction and financing to the CHUSJ.
The expansion, part of the Grandir en santé modernization efforts currently underway at the Sainte-Justine Hospital Centre, will include two new buildings dedicated to specialized care and research. A new seven‐storey building for specialized care units, with a total surface area of 43,269 m2, will be located to the west of the current CHUSJ building and be linked floor‐by‐floor with the existing facility via bridges and underground passages.
The project includes specialized care units for integrated pediatrics, specialized pediatrics and trauma surgery with a capacity of 120 beds, a 14‐room surgery department with 11 operating theatres and three procedure rooms, 32 pediatric intensive and intermediate care beds, a 20‐bed high risk pregnancy unit, a 23-bed birth unit, 80 intensive care beds in neonatology, and medical imaging facilities. A new Research Centre, with a total surface area of 26,696 m2, is also included in the project.

Construction is already underway, and the project is expected to be completed in the autumn of 2016.
