MONTREAL, March 8, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - SNC-Lavalin (TSX: SNC) is pleased to announce that is has been awarded an engineering contract by the Illinois Department of Transportation, which has commissioned the company's Rail & Transit team to provide Fleet Management services. These include the oversight of maintenance and operation for a pool of Next-Generation High Speed rail equipment.
The contract has an initial term of three years, valued at $4.8M USD. There are also two additional three year options, with a combined value of $14M USD.
The new fleet will consist of at least 33 new locomotives and up to 88 new bi-level cars. These will replace the current equipment, which is leased from a different service provider. The equipment purchased will be jointly owned by the states of Illinois, Michigan, Missouri and Wisconsin.
